John Meyer, beloved father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and, above all, devoted husband to Patricia Meyer, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the age of 79. His final moments were spent surrounded by his loving wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a testament to the life of family, love, and dedication he built over nearly eight decades.
Born in Evanston, Illinois, John was the cherished son of the late William and Doris Meyer. He was predeceased by his parents, along with his brothers William, Robert, Richard, James and his sister, Anne. John’s life was one of deep family ties, as he took pride in being the dependable and joyful “Uncle John”, always ready to lend a hand and support anyone in need.
John was the devoted husband to his “beautiful Patricia”, with whom he shared a love that inspired everyone around them. Their connection was extraordinary – each time Patricia entered a room, John’s face would light up, showing a bond that grew stronger with time and a held a profound place in his heart.
John was a proud father to Kimberly (Scott) and Timothy (Sheri). He also adored his grandchildren, Danielle, Lexi, Robbie, and Kyle, as well as his great-grandchildren, Alison and Sadie, who brought him endless joy. In addition to his immediate family, John leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members, each of whom felt his warmth and kindness.
A Vietnam War veteran, John served his country with honor. After his military service, he went on to found Service Plus, Inc. His business legacy lives on through his son TJ, who carries forward the principles of integrity and excellence that John instilled.
John will be remembered not only for his steadfast love and friendship, but also his generosity, humor and unwavering support for family and friends. His impact on all who knew him is immeasurable, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Memorial visitation will be Sunday, November 24, 2024 from 10 AM until the memorial service at 12:30 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to JourneyCare Hospice, 405 N Lake Zurich Rd, Barrington, IL.
