John Riggenbach

John C. Riggenbach, 65, of McHenry, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012.

Born on September 5, 1946 in Chicago, he was the son of the late John and Eileen (nee Schaefer) Riggenbach.

John received his Bachelor’s Degrees in History and Psychology from Dominican College in Racine, Wisconsin and a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration and Counseling from Indiana University. After receiving his degrees, John worked as the Director of the Runaway Center in Racine; he and his wife were foster parents for 12 children. After serving as the Assistant Dean of Students at Illinois Benedictine University, he served as the Dean of Students at Santa Fe Community College in Santa Fe, New Mexico as well as Dean of Students at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was also employed as a business mediator.

John is survived by his wife Sandra of McHenry; his daughter Kristin (fiancé Dan Smith) Riggenbach of Bolingbrook; his brother Jim (Ellen) Riggenbach of Almond, Wisconsin; his sister-in-law Karen Riggenbach of Crystal Lake; and eleven loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Donald.

The visitation will be from 4-8pm, Friday, June 8 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (IL Rt 176), Crystal Lake. The funeral service will be held at 2pm, Saturday, June 9 at First Congregational Church – Crystal Lake, 461 Pierson St, Crystal Lake preceded by an hour of visitation beginning at 1pm. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to John’s family would be appreciated.
