John Brandt Siewers, Jr.

John Brandt Siewers Jr, 84 of Barrington passed away peacefully on Oct. 30 2017. He was born on Chicago’s Westside, Oct 16, 933 to John Brandt Siewers Sr. and Mary (Byrne) Siewers.

John is a graduate of Fenwick High School 1951. John Earned a Mathematics degree from St. Mary’s University of Winnona, MN 1955. John was a proud veteran having served as a Naval Intelligence Officer stationed in Sasebo Japan in the 1950’s. He was united in marriage to Rosemary (Carmody) Siewers on Oct. 31, 1959 at Christ The King Catholic Church in the Chicago neighborhood of Beverly. John had a 40 plus year outstanding career with CNA insurance holding the title of Senior Vice President, Special Risks Division.

A lover of sports especially when they involved his sons JB and Patrick: football, basketball and baseball and his daughter MaryRo a field hockey player. John was an avid golfer- in later years ignored the scorecard while enjoying the camaraderie of his golfing buddies. John was a lover of books primarily history and mysteries. He was notorious for his deep discussions of history and politics. John regaled friends and family with his warm, humorous and sharp witted story telling. He could be seen sitting at the kitchen table each morning with Rosemary while he read Chicago Tribune and completed the daily crossword puzzle.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Rosemary, daughter MaryRo Flynn (Tim), sons John Brandt III (J.B.), Patrick (Richelle).  Proud and loving Papa of Jack and Sarah Flynn and Brynna and Leighton Siewers, sister Karen Hoefs and the late Anne Coyne. Memorial visitation Saturday Nov. 4, 2017 at 10am followed by Mass at 11am at St. Anne Catholic Church 120 N. Ela St., 60010 (Corner of Franklin and Ela Sts. in Barrington). Interment private.
