John Thyfault

John Frederick Thyfault was born February 28,1931, in Zurich, KS, to Gilbert and Edith (Coupal) Thyfault.He passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012 in Dermott, Arkansas at the age of 80.He attended a country elementary school in Zurich and Alton and graduated from Stockton High School with the class of 1949.John received his Bachelor's Degree and Master's degree from Northern Colorado at Greeley.John joined the Air Force in January of 1951 at Kansas City, MO.He played baseball for the U.S. Air Force at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia.At the age of 20 he volunteered for duty in Korea and served with the 729 Fighter Bomber Squadron, coordinating combat missions for the B-26 bombers.He was discharged in October of 1952 in Texas.On January 12, 1962 John married Lois Buchbinder in Chicago, IL.John spent his working life as a Professional Educator and Administrator in Barrington, IL.John was a member of the Illinois Education Association.John is survived by his children, Charles Thyfault and wife Mary Susan, Greg Thyfault, and Dione Ellice Cortez and husband Max all of Barrington, Illinois; six grandchildren, Bradley, Brian, and Annie Thyfault and Benjamin, Sophia and Jonathan Cortez. Other survivors include John's sisters, Jane Cunningham and husband Don, and Dorothy Hrabe all of Stockton, and Frances Krahl of Salina.John's parents, Gilbert and Mary; brother, Donald preceded him in death.Memorial services are planned for 7 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2012 at the Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street, Barrington, Illinois.The Family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.Funeral Mass was held in Kansas, followed by burial in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery.Memorials are suggested to the Solomon Valley Manor and may be sent in care of Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N.
