John Allen Turner, 62, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2015 at his home in Schaumburg surrounded by family. He was an adored father, grandpa (Pop), brother, uncle and lover of Fox News and the Chicago Bears.
Born September 3, 1952, he will be remembered for his love of history, having a story for everything, enjoying a beer, and his Harley Davidson. A graduate of Barrington High School and Grinnell College, John spent much of his life traveling the states as a semi truck driver. He enjoyed polishing his pickup truck and refinishing furniture. He could always be found on the tailgate of his truck for a chat and a beer.
Survived by his dear friend Pat (Petru), daughters, Morgan (Brady Kelly) Turner of Celebration FL and Amy (Bill) Dahm of Hanover Park, IL. Grandchildren; Brady Kelly, Dalton and Hayley Dahm, brother David (the late Phyllis) Turner of Biglerville, PA, sister Sharon (Howard) Lau of Mendocino, CA; preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Mary Turner, by his wife, Barbara (nee Tucker), and by his beloved cat, Harley. Adored by his Cranbrook family and many four legged friends.
Please help us celebrate John by wearing jeans and bringing a beer to send off with him.
Visitation Monday, August 17 from 4pm until 8pm, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd.), Barrington 60010. Funeral service will be held, Tuesday, August 18 at 10 am at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 610 Dundee Avenue, Barrington.
John spent many years helping to mow the grass and maintain the grave sites at Evergreen Cemetery. One thing he hated was seeing the amount of money spent on funeral flowers. Instead, donations to the La Farge Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 327, La Farge, WI 54639 would be greatly appreciated.
