John Domenic Vitacco

1932 — 2022

Davenport Lake Zurich

To a man who lived every day more concerned about the needs and wishes of others than himself. John Domenic Vitacco, 90, passed away on January 13, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving wife, Marlene, née Hoffmann of 67 years.

He grew up in the city of Chicago leaving at age 17 to proudly serve his country in the U.S. ARMY serving as Sergeant First Class during the Korean War.

John was a self-taught electrical consulting engineer responsible for the design of electrical systems of many prominent commercial buildings including the Sears Tower and operating rooms for VA Hospitals.

His dedication and passion allowed him to work until the age of 82, mentoring many along the way and winning the respect and admiration of his customers. John impacted everyone in a unique way. A positive way. A memorable way. Encouraging everyone to be ‘the best of the best’. John’s legacy will live on by the individual stories told by many for years to come.

Loving father of Nicholas (Terry), John and Kenneth (Angela); cherished Papa of Danelle, Matthew, Joseph (Roxanne), Anthony (Jean), Briana, and Mary Frances (Luke) Bland; great-grandfather of Andrew, Julia Mae, Samuel, Enzo and Luca; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews; devoted son of the late Nicola and Teresa Vitacco. Preceded in death by sister and brothers, Mary (Matthew) Ramaglia; Anthony (Helen) and Michael (Maria).
