John “Jack” Latter, of Kildeer, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 10, 2022 at the age of 97. He was born April 22, 1925 in Chicago, the son of Cameron and Mary Latter.
Jack was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in the European Theater during WWII in the special unit Roger’s Raiders – where he was awarded 3 bronze stars.
After he was discharged from the Army, he began a 74 years business career, working for Bell and Howell, where he was the youngest controller in the company. His career also spanned across several Fortune 500 companies, serving as an Executive. He was on several Boards of Directors, including Land’s End.
He was an active parishioner for 54 years of St. Francis de Sales Church in Lake Zurich. Jack was a lifelong, devoted fan of The Chicago Bears and The Chicago Cubs.
Jack is survived by his cherished sons, Jack Latter and Paul (Teri) Latter; his adored grandsons, Philip (Macy), Scott (Tiffany), Mark and David (Haylee); his precious great-grandchildren, Aspen, Willow, Charles, Benjamin, Cecilia, and Ryan; and his various nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Genevieve; his parents; his son, David; grandson, Michael; and siblings, Thomas and Margaret.
A memorial visitation will be held from 9am until the time of Mass at 10am on Saturday, July 9 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 S. Buesching Ave., Lake Zurich.
