Jon Simich
February 18, 1947 — January 25, 2017
Jon Aaron Simich, 69, of Crystal Lake, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Chicago on February 18, 1947 to Anton and Peggy Simich.
Jon was a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army, serving two terms in Vietnam during his 23 years of service.
He married Valarie Fraijo on September 20, 1992 in Santa Barbara, CA. They moved to Crystal Lake in 2002 to be close to family.
Jon was an avid photographer and remote control helicopter, plane and model train enthusiast. He loved spending time with his family.
Besides his wife, Valarie, Jon is survived by his daughter, Kate Malnarick and grandson, Baerett George Jon Malnarick; son, Jonathan Aaron Michael Malnarick; and brother, Scott Metze.
He was preceded in death by his father, Anton Simich; mother, Peggy Metze; stepfather, Robert Metze; and stepmother, Joann Marie Simich.
A memorial visitation will be Monday, January 30, 2017 from 9am until 12 noon at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
