Jonathan David Fantus, 44, of Crystal Lake, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 9, 2017 in McHenry.
He was born November 29, 1973 in Elgin to David and Merrily (nee Willard) Fantus. Jon lived in Crystal Lake until 1973, when he moved with his parents to Silicon Valley, California where he attended grade school with children from many different nationalities and cultures. Jon's love and compassion for people and social causes were developed as a result of this experience.
Jon moved back to Crystal Lake in 1986, where he attended and graduated from Crystal Lake Central High School. Jon has worked as a taxi driver, limo driver, and food service driver. He particularly enjoyed working for Papa Saverio's in Crystal Lake. Jon loved outdoor sports. He played disc golf, golf, snowboarding and especially skateboarding. Jon also enjoyed music. He taught himself to play the guitar, bass and drums, and has composed many original tunes. His goal was to eventually record his music and develop a musical touring group.
Jon enjoyed helping other people. He was a frequent blood donor at Lifetime Services in Crystal Lake, and volunteered to deliver meals for the Salvation Army's Golden Dinners program. Jon will be remembered as a compassionate person, who loved his many friends and family.
Jon is survived by his parents, David and Merrily Fantus; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
