Jose Medina

Jose Medina, 58 years of age and resident of Marengo, Illinois, passed away surrounded by family on April 15, 2025.

Jose was born in Mexico on March 10, 1967, to the late Mauro and Belem (Ortega) Medina. He was united in marriage to Pilar (Chavez) Medina on May 13, 1989, in Chicago, Illinois.

Jose is survived by his loving wife, Pilar Medina; children Mauro (Nancy) Medina and Belem (Daniel) Medina; grandchildren Adolfo Medina and Mauro Ruiz; siblings Thomas, Refugio, Jesus, Franciso, Pedro, Celia, Delfina, and Veronica; beloved dogs, Quetzal, Capiro, and Genio (his special buddy); as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant child Veronica Medina, sister Lucia Medina, brother Salvador Medina, and uncle Father Joel.

Jose will be remembered for his hardworking and friendly nature. He was passionate about gardening, tending to his flowers whenever he could. When not gardening, Jose could be found playing guitar or spending time with his family, especially the grandkids. He will be missed by many.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 East Terra Cotta Ave. (Route 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014. The following morning, April 23, 2025, a 10 a.m. Mass will be held at St. Monica’s Catholic Church, 90 N John F. Kennedy Dr, Carpentersville, IL 60110.

José Medina, de 58 años y residente de Marengo, Illinois, falleció rodeado de su familia el 15 de abril de 2025.

José nació en México el 10 de marzo de 1967, hijo de los difuntos Mauro y Belem (Ortega) Medina. Contrajo matrimonio con Pilar (Chávez) Medina el 13 de mayo de 1989 en Chicago, Illinois.

A José le sobreviven su amada esposa, Pilar Medina; sus hijos Mauro (Nancy) Medina y Belem (Daniel) Medina; sus nietos Adolfo Medina y Mauro Ruiz; sus hermanos Thomas, Refugio, Jesús, Francisco, Pedro, Celia, Delfina y Verónica; sus queridos perros Quetzal, Capiro y Genio (su gran amigo); así como sus numerosos sobrinos, sobrinas, otros familiares y amigos. Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, su pequeña Verónica Medina, su hermana Lucía Medina, su hermano Salvador Medina y su tío, el padre Joel.

José será recordado por su carácter trabajador y amigable. Le apasionaba la jardinería y cuidaba sus flores siempre que podía. Cuando no estaba trabajando en el jardín, José tocaba la guitarra o pasaba tiempo con su familia, especialmente con sus nietos. Muchos lo extrañarán.

El velatorio se llevará a cabo el martes 22 de abril de 2025, de 4 p. m. a 8 p. m., en la Funeraria y Crematorio Familiar Davenport, 419 East Terra Cotta Ave. (Ruta 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014. A la mañana siguiente, 23 de abril de 2025, se celebrará una misa a las 10 a. m. en la Iglesia Católica de Santa Mónica, 90 N John F. Kennedy Dr, Carpentersville, IL 60110.
