A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph S. Bundra,81, will be held at noon, Wednesday, October 19, at Christ the King Parish, 5006 E. Wonder Lake Rd., Wonder Lake, IL 60097, where he will lie in state from 11 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will be in Maryhill Cemetery, Niles.
Born August 18,1930, in Fogelsville, PA, he passed away, peacefully, Thursday, October 13,2011, in Barrington.
Mr. Bundra retired in 1993 from Illinois Bell, where he had worked as an electronics engineer.
He was an active member of Christ the King Parish, the Richmond Senior Center and the Chain-O-Lakes Eagles RC club in McHenry. His hobbies included building model cars and radio controlled airplanes. He enjoyed playing dominoes, completing crossword puzzles, plus playing the accordion and banjo. But most of his time was spent attending his grandchildren’s games, activities and recitals
Survivors include his wife, Joan L. O’Neill, whom he married September 26,1953, in Chicago; children, Stephen (Judy) Bundra, John (Debi) Bundra, Mary (Jonathan) Hall, Frank (Mary) Bundra, Joe (Laura) Bundra, and Lucy (Peter) Mori; grandchildren, Katherine, Mark and Sarah Bundra, Rebecca, Samantha, James and Angela Bundra, Caitlin Hall, Matthew, Nicholas, Ryan, Erin, Joshua, Kyle, Christopher and Frank Bundra, Daniel and Gina Bundra, and Bradley, Gabrielle, and Rachel Mori; great-grandchildren, Zackariah, Brooke, Wilder, Liv, Warrior, and Ivory; a sister, Rosemarie (Joseph) Rieker; many loving nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Barbara O’Neill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Mary (nee Ryba) Bundra; and brother-in-law, Terrance P. O’Neill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mr. Bundra’s name may be made to Christ the King Church for the celebration of the Gregorian 30 Masses or to the Wounded Warrior Project 7020 AC Skinner Pkwy, Ste. 100, Jacksonville, FL 32256-6938
