Joseph Wayne Canzoneri

Joseph Wayne Canzoneri, 60, of Cary passed away on Thursday January 11, 2018. He was born a Chicago native, on October 2, 1957, to Sharon and Joseph Canzoneri. He was married to his beloved wife, Linda and was proud father to 22 year-old, Joseph. Joseph is survived by his siblings, Gary, Mark, Kent, Judy, and their families. Known to be whole-hearted and very sincere to those he called his family, Joseph was like a second father to his nieces and nephews, Gary Robert, Nicholas, Kyle, Tracy, and Emily and furthermore, remembered as "Papa Joe" by even their children, Gabriela, Rocco, Giana, Vincent, and Cayden. He loved and thought of his in-laws, Debra, Nancy, Charles, Bobby, and Michael, like his own siblings.
Not only was Joseph dear to family, but he was also locally known as "Hatman" to all of his friends, Chicago locals, and bar goers alike. Joseph gained his name from his love for wearing various hats and rarely was seen without proudly wearing a fedora or Chicago sports hat. Many will remember his passion for Chicago sports and his undying love for the Chicago Cubs. He truly bled Cubby blue and always had that resilient northsider mentality towards the Cubs winning the World Series.
Most will remember him for his love for the blues and his extraordinary talent at playing the harmonica. As a pioneer for modern DJ/Entertainers in the early 2000’s Midwest suburbs night-life scene, Joseph used his passion for music to bring others together in its authenticity. For years he was a DJ at local bars and for various events incorporating karaoke which many will remember him for also. Thus, he was accepting of everyone and their talents and often performed himself as a musician. For all that, remember Hatman. If you listen closely you can still hear the distinct rip of that Hohner Special 20" as Sweet Home Chicago plays into the night.
A Memorial visitation and celebration of Joseph’s life will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 3 pm until 7 pm with the service starting at 6:30 pm at the Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake.
