Joseph Cernivec

Joseph Cernivec, age 96, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on July 13th 2021. He was born in Chicago, IL on November 29th , 1924

Joe was the loving husband of 61 years to his late wife, Longina Cernivec; loving father of Russ (Carey) and grandfather to Joseph (Stephanie), Ryan and Michael, and a great-grandfather to Lea and Hannah.

Joe served in the Navy, enlisting on December 11th 1942. He rose to the rank of V-5 Naval Aviation Cadet, and was honorably discharged on June 30th, 1947. Joe also served as a Chicago Police Detective for 35 years. After retirement, he was head of security for Marriott Lincolnshire for 17 years. Joe loved to read, listen to big band music, and always loved to travel.

A visitation for Joseph will be held from 4pm until the time of service at 7pm on Friday July 16, 2021 at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047.
