Joseph B. Kelsch, Sr., age 76, of Barrington, IL., passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2017. Beloved husband of Doris (nee Abramowski) Kelsch. Loving father of Joe (Renee) Kelsch Jr., David Kelsch and Chris Kelsch. Loving Grandfather to Matt and Caroline Kelsch, loving brother to Sue (Harvey) Hoffman, Annie (Sam) Reyes, and Jim (Jan) Kelsch. Cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. Visitation Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 3 PM to 9 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. Barrington, IL 60010. Lying in state, Monday 9 AM to 11 AM, at Saint Anne Catholic Community, 120 Ela St. (corner of Franklin and Ela Sts.) Barrington, IL 60010, followed by funeral mass at 11 AM. Private interment at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Hillside, IL. Mr. Kelsch was an Eagle Scout, and served as a coach and mentor to many young men throughout the Barrington community. He worked for many years in the advertising and marketing industry, serving many high-profile accounts throughout the food and beverage industry, ultimately becoming President of the American Daily Association in 1984. During the time, community service remained a constant in his life, as he also served as the President of the Barrington School District 220 school board. He remained deeply committed to serving others until his passing, ultimately serving as business and finance director at Saint Anne Catholic Community, and was also influential in the design and building of the new Saint Anne Catholic Community. He also served on various boards and committees throughout the village of Barrington, being named Citizen of the Year by the Barrington Area Development Council.
