Joseph F. “Joe” Brodner Jr., 90, of St. Charles, passed away peacefully on, July 14, 2017. He was born on August 29, 1926 in Chicago to Joseph Sr. and Therese Brodner.
Joe was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and was stationed in Tennessee, Oklahoma, Florida and Illinois; he was discharged in 1946. He was a member of Saint Anne Catholic Community since 1969; he was also a member of Civic-Elks, Knights of Columbus, Society of Plastic Engineer, Barrington Baseball and Barrington Quarterback Club. He also enjoyed hunting, gardening, golfing, Skeet shooting and was known to be a skilled arborist.
On March 3, 1962 he was united in marriage to Mildred (nee Herzog) in Chicago. Joe was a successful businessman and founder of local plastic company, Olcott Plastics of St. Charles, IL.
In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his children, Marie (David) Malecki, Joseph Brodner, John (Lesli) Brodner, Maggie (Jim) Goodwin; grandchildren, John, Jake, Emily, Sam, Parker, Alexis, Hannah, Luke, Krista and Molly; great-grandchild, Remington; his sisters, Kathy Gemple and Anna Kuc; and sister-in-law, Audrey Herzog.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Peter.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 18 from 4 until 8 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake Cook Rd.), Barrington, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, July 19, at 10 AM at Saint Anne Catholic Community, 120 N. Ela St. (corner of Franklin and Ela Sts.), Barrington, with a visitation starting from 9 until 9:30 AM. Interment with Military Honors to follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Palatine.
