Joy Syverson

Joy Syverson (nee Hughes), 81 of Lake Zurich, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 8, 2023. She was born on October 21, 1941 in Providence, RI to the late Andrew and Barbara (nee Skovron) Hughes.

In her younger years, Joy worked as a sales representative in the cosmetic industry. Joy was a member of the Gold Star Mothers Northern Illinois and National Chapters. She was also a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.

Joy is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Paul R. Syverson; grand-children, Paul R. Syverson, IV and Amy Elizabeth Syverson; sister, Andrea (Kevin) Kivisto; Brother-in-law, Stuart (Gilda) Syverson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceeded in death by her son, Major Paul R. Syverson, III, United States Army Special Forces, Killed in Action June 16, 2004.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 11 from 4pm to 8pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich. Visitation will resume at the funeral home at 9am on Thursday until the time of prayers at 9:30am. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 S. Buesching Rd, Lake Zurich. Interment at Lake Zurich Cemetery will follow.
