Juanita Michael

Juanita Claire Smith Michael, longtime resident of Barrington passed away peacefully at home January 6, 2016.

She was born April 4, 1933 in Bowen, Illinois. Juanita married her life-long love Jim (Mike) Michael on July 9, 1951.

Juanita is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jim (Mike); children, Nancy (Bill) Hartwig, Mary (Tim) Howard, and Jim (Nancy) Michael; grandchildren, Joy (Jason) Latek, Jenny (Chris) Orth, Bill (Crissy) Hartwig, Tim Howard, Joey (Kim) Howard, Chris (Olivia Krueger) Howard, Kelly (TJ Taraszka) Michael, and Danny (Amanda) Michael; great grandchildren, Kate and Carson Latek, Harrison Orth, and DJ Michael; brother, Keith (Marilyn) Smith, three nieces, two nephews, and many dear friends of all ages.

Juanita is best known for her wonderful cooking and baking, along with her loving, kind, and thoughtful ways about her that made everyone feel welcomed and special. She was a confidant to all.

Juanita worked many long hours alongside her husband for 28 years at Biltmore Country Club. She owned the Tommy-Terry Shop in Barrington for 14 years. She started working at Edward Jones learning to use a computer at the age of 60, proving nothing could stop her. She volunteered many hours in the concession stand during little league seasons for many years.

Juanita will be sadly missed by all but will never be forgotten.

Memorial visitation will be from 3pm until the time of the memorial service at 6pm, Saturday, January 16 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook), Barrington.
