Judith Brown, age 84, of Crystal Lake, passed away on September 17, 2023, with family at her side, after fighting a two-year battle with illness.
She cared deeply for her family, four children, four grandchildren, seven great-children, and never missed a chance to tell them how much she loved them. Always outgoing & adventurous, Judy had many friends. Her calendar was always full and her party purse in hand. She cherished the friends she made in high school, Minnesota, Newcomers, Bunco and was an avid bridge player for many years. She enjoyed traveling both domestically and abroad. A movie buff, you’ll never find a bigger fan of Brad Pitt than Judy Brown, and when it came to tennis, she always cheered for Rafael Nadal!
Judy was born on September 3rd, 1939, in Bloomington, IL to her parents Gilbert & Janetta Barnett. She attended Griffith High School.
While working as a Secretary for the Hammond Jaycees, she met the love of her life, Pat Brown. They were married on September 5th, 1959.
They first settled in Hammond, Indiana, where Pat was a Store Manager for B.F. Goodrich. They had three of their four children, Mike, Laura and Linda and following a promotion, the family moved to Crystal, Minnesota, where Judy & Pat’s fourth child, Eric, was born. Time in Minnesota was filled with wonderful friends and neighbors, camping, fishing, and their beloved cabin. In 1979, another career move brought them to Crystal Lake, Illinois, their long-time home for nearly fifty years.
Judy will be lovingly remembered by her four children: Mike of Cary, IL, Laura (Tom) Tobin of Lakewood, IL, Linda (John) Coonen of Broomfield, CO, and Eric of Broomfield, CO. She is also survived by four Grandchildren: Andrew (Julie) Coonen, Alyssa (Josh) Miller, Michael Tobin, and Kelly Tobin, as well as seven great-grandchildren (Audrey, Aiden, Penny, Nora, Wyatt, Joanna, and Graham), her sister, Cindy Barnett and brother Frank (Rosie) Barnett.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Brown, and her parents Gilbert & Janetta Barnett.
