Juergen Roesch

Juergen Roesch passed away peacefully in his home on March 23, 2016 surrounded by loved ones. He was born on January 27, 1935 in Leipzig Germany. Juergen made his home in Barrington Hills in the 1970’s and has been an active member of the community ever since.

He was a boy at the end of WWII and moved to Hamburg before the borders between East and West Germany were closed. As a young adult, he became an electrician to help rebuild after the war. He then became an electrical engineer for the German Merchant Marines and sailed around South America. He was also an electrical technician for the F-104 fighter jet in Germany, worked with Motorola improving color televisions and traveled for Zeiss, selling precision optical measuring devices. He later worked with his passion for horses in Barrington Hills. He was an instructor for the Fox River Pony Club for many years. In 1995, he became the farm manager and riding instructor at Cresswood Farm. He never seemed to stop moving, keeping busy with his horses, garden, and “do it yourself” attitude.

After he was disabled in 2000, he rekindled his childhood hobby of raising fish. He always enjoyed being around animals and would not be slowed down by a broken body.

He is survived by his son, William; his step-daughters, Heather (Keith) and Julie (Jay); his brother, Peter (Biba); his nephews, Jimmy (Michiko) and Stephan; and his nieces, Katarina (Miken) and Michelle. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial visitation will be held from 10am until time of service at 1pm, Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street, Barrington, IL.
