Julie A. Sima, 53, of Island Lake passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013 in Crystal Lake. Born on August 14, 1959 in Great Lakes, Illinois, she was the daughter of Patricia (nee Galowitch) and John Flood.
Julie was a 1977 graduate of Mundelein High School and also graduated from the College of Lake County. She was a fabulous chess player, enjoyed playing tennis and cards, swimming, and traveling and collected owls from around the world. She was the central figure of love for her family.
Julie volunteered at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Zion and at the Connection Crisis Line in Libertyville. She was always helping others and was a true inspiration to many.
Survivors include her mother, Patricia Flood; father, John Flood; brothers, John (Sue) Flood, James (Julie) Flood, and Frank (Roberta) Flood; sister Mary (Jason) Saikin; and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Julie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, John and Mathilda Galowitch; paternal grandparents, John and Josephine Flood; and her uncle, Gregory Galowitch.
