Kang Soo Park

Kang Soo Park was born on January 10, 1940, in Manchuria, China, to Yoo Shin and Sun Do Park. The son of a wealthy businessman and an accountant, he had three younger sisters and one younger brother. Kang was no stranger to difficult times as he lost his mother and father at an early age. After serving in the Korean Army for three years, he worked as a taxicab driver and an auto mechanic.

Kang married Young Im at the age of 30, and together they had four children. In 1973, he immigrated to the United States. Over the next 2 years, he worked long, hard hours to support his family in Korea while at the same time saving money to help them immigrate. He was dedicated in his desire to provide a better opportunity for his family.

After becoming a Christian in the early 1980s, he fervently served his Savior with great energy and enthusiasm that characterized every endeavor in his life. While living in the Washington, D.C. area, he started and managed multiple businesses. In his later years, Kang moved to the Chicagoland area to be near his children.

Kang was married to his wife for 52 years. Over the past 26 years, he cared for his ailing wife with tireless devotion and love until his death. At the age of 82, he passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 29th, 2022.

Kang is survived by his wife, Young Park; children, Yoon (John) Roloson, Chin Park, Jae (Maria) Park, and Samuel (Maria) Park; grandchildren, Stephanie (Charlie) Stratton, Hannah Roloson, Heather Roloson, John Jr. (Rebekah) Roloson, Julie Roloson, YeongSu Park, David Park, Daniel Park, Abigail Park, Julianne Park, Samuel Jaeden Park, and Emily Park; and great-grandchild, Evalynn Roloson.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2022, from 5 PM to 8 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 149 West Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd), Barrington, IL 60010.
