Karolina P. Marsh

Karolina P. Marsh, of Mount Prospect, passed away December 11, 2024 at the age of 94.

She was born November 1, 1930 in Alpena, SD, the daughter of the late Philip and Karolina (nee Hettick) Mees.

Married in 1953, Karolina went from riding a horse-drawn sleigh to school to beginning a life of traveling around the world with Alfred Warner Marsh, a United Airlines pilot. She had an immense passion for horses and riding. She loved to feed the birds (and the squirrels), especially the duck that would knock on her back door. Additionally, Karolina found true enjoyment in gardening; summer water skiing and scuba diving; and in the winter, she enjoyed snowmobiling and snow skiing.

Her family can take comfort in knowing she is finally reunited with her two loves – Warner, and her two horses, Sancho and Lady. 

Karolina is survived by her daughters, Resa (Edward) Riess and Cindy Marsh; her grandchildren, Michaela (Jadd) Shammas, Shannon (Mike Rawski) Riess, and Dan Caughron; her great-grandson, Jackson Caughron; her sister-in-law, Joyce Mees; and many well-loved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfred Warner Marsh, Jr.; and her siblings, Harold, Lucille, Evelyn, Milton, Karl, Pearl, Alice, and Elizabeth.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6:00 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176) Crystal Lake. Burial will be held at a later date at Acacia Park Cemetery, Mendota Heights, MN.
