Kathleen M. (McDermott) Borman

Kathleen M. Borman, 56, of Crystal Lake, was born December 29, 1961 in Englewood, NJ to Desmond McDermott and Stella (nee Knott) Poggensee. She passed away peacefully Sunday, August 19, 2018 at her mother’s home in Deer Park.

Kathleen was a gifted and devoted teacher and Golden Apple nominee. She taught math and science for over 20 years at Bernotas Middle School. Her love of students showed through playing James Brown “I Feel Good” when her students “got the concept” as well as doing head stands and cartwheels when students accomplished their goals. She also loved sports and enjoyed being active, especially gardening, tennis and biking. She loved music and playing her clarinet. She enjoyed using tools and building things, including a potting and tool shed for her mother from scratch.

She will be missed by her children, Tony (Lauren), Brady, Sean, and Kevin Borman; her mother, Stella (Bill) Poggensee; her siblings, Paul, Stephen, Tom, and Des McDermott; and her step-siblings, Debbie Cherney, Kristen Poggensee, Bill Poggensee, and Betsy Wei Poggensee.

She is preceded in death by her father; and her brother, Kevin McDermott.

A visitation will be held from 4-9pm, Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Visitation will continue from 9am until time of funeral Mass at 10am, Friday, August 24, 2018 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 Ela St., Barrington. Interment to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lake Geneva, WI.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to cancer research.
