Kathleen Mary (Shill) Grant

Kathleen Mary Grant (nee Shill), age 65, passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021.

Kathy was born in Chicago, IL on August 7, 1956 to John and Beverly Shill. Kathy was raised in Arlington Heights and moved to Glendale, AZ for a short time before becoming a 30 year resident of Lake Zurich.

She loved all her dogs, past and present: Daisy, Ernie, Bella, Otis, Marley and Stella. She loved her flowers and spent long summer days tending to the them.

Kathy spent 25 years working at Northwest Community Hospital as a medical tech and phlebotomist She spent many chilly spring afternoons wrapped in blanket watching her sons playing baseball from youth all through college baseball.

Later in life she enjoyed preserving the fruits and vegetables that she had grown, watching television and taking the dogs to the dog park.

Kathy is survived by her beloved husband of 34 years, Daniel Grant; her loving children, Colin (Ann Kora) Grant and Derek Grant; siblings, John (Chris) Shill and Donna Benfield; sister-in-law, Mary Beth (Bill) Allen; and brother-in-law, Steven (Mary) Grant.

Preceded in death by her parents, John and Beverly Shill; mother-in law, Mary Marcucci; and brother-in-law, David Grant.

A memorial visitation for Kathy will be held from 3pm until the time of service at 6pm on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathy’s name may be made to the Anti-Cruelty Society.
