Kathryn (Hoge) Fogelin

Biography

Kathryn Florabel Fogelin, 97, of North Barrington, formerly of Oak Park, IL passed away peacefully on October 2, 2015. She was born on December 23, 1917 in Chicago, IL to Frederick and Myrtle (nee Salisbury) Hoge.

She attended Beloit College, was a member of the Tri Delta sorority and graduated with a BA in English. Kathryn worked for Illinois Bell until her mother’s health required her full attention. She was an accomplished pianist and a supporter of the Fine Arts. Kathryn was an active volunteer in her children’s schools, community organizations and her church in Oak Park.

Kathryn met her future husband, Emil, at church when she was asked to be the substitute accompanist for the young adult choir group he was directing. On May 17, 1947 Kathryn and Emil married. They enjoyed traveling the world together and were fortunate enough to visit all 7 continents and 50 states. Kathryn and Emil celebrated 56 years of marriage until his death in 2003. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, flowers, books, genealogy, and most of all, spending time with her friends and family.

She will be deeply missed by her loving children, Frederick (Linda
Jones) and Kathryn (Paul) Liska; her grandchildren, Kathryn (Patrick) Smith, Elizabeth (Andrew) Seward and Robert Liska II; her stepgranddaughter, Deanna Newell (Mark Herscovitz); and her great-grandchildren, Sara and Joshua Herscovitz and Kathryn Seward.

Visitation will be Monday, October 5, 2015 from 10am until time of service at 11am at Barrington United Methodist Church, 98 Algonquin Rd., Barrington. Interment will take place in Bellefontaine Cemetery, Ohio.

Donations may be made in her name to Beloit College, The Nineteenth Century Club, or the P.E.O. International.
