Katie Cooney

Katie Cooney, 40, of Lake Zurich, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 20, 2024. She was born on July 8, 1984 in Des Plaines, IL to James and Virginia Cooney.

Katie was a graduate of Palatine High School. While there she participated in Special Olympics track and field, basketball, swimming, bowling and cheerleading. Outside of school, Katie participated in many NWSRA programs; her favorite being horseback riding at Palatine Stables. Katie was very social and enjoyed dances and parties of all kinds. She loved horses, butterflies, the color blue, all things Harry Potter, hugs, playing handbells and most of all her friends and family.

Katie will be deeply missed by her loving siblings, Jennifer Lane (John Lane), Kristyn Cooper (Matthew Cooper); nieces and nephews Ashley Kendall, Austin Lane, Carter Lane, Eve Cooper, Ella Cooper; grand nieces and nephews Isabella Kendall, Gabriella Kendall, and Anthony Kendall; boyfriend Ryan Lewis; all ladies, sisters, and staff of Mount Saint Joseph.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Sullivan; her father, James Cooney; maternal grandparents Dorothy and Raymond Siebert; her paternal grandparents Lorainne and Raymond Cooney.

Visitation will be Monday, November 25, 2024 from 4 PM until 8 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 9:30 AM until the funeral mass at Mount St. Joseph, 24955 N Hwy12, Lake Zurich, IL 60047. Interment to follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.
