Katrena T. (Truax) Caster

Katrena was born December 20, 1924 in Eminence, IN.  She passed away peacefully at her home February 4, 2019.

Katrena grew up in central Indiana, the middle child of Willis and Rena Truax, with 2 brothers and 2 sisters.  After graduating from Purdue University she married Robert (Bob) Caster in August of 1947 and moved to Lisbon Falls, Maine to start their lives together. Son, Bruce was born in 1947 and daughter, Nancy was born in 1952. Bob's work with US Gypsum took the family on several moves across the country.  Most of their married lives was spent in Pendleton, Oregon.  Katrena and Bob were active in the Presbyterian Church and the Roundup Athletic Club there.  She was also active in the community, serving on the Community Concert Association Board making her trifolds to support the Arts, St. Anthony Hospital Auxillary, Oregon East Symphony Guild and the Bargin Counter.  She and Bob loved cruising and visiting with family after his retirement.  Katrena enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and doing sudokus.

Katrena is survived by her husband of 71 years, Robert; children, Bruce (Ann) Caster, and Nancy (Jimmie) Powell; grandchildren, Janet Childers, Jay Andrew Powell, Lindsey (Mike Freundlich) Powell, Kevin Powell, and Christopher (Shanna) Caster; great grandchildren, Lexi Childers, Calvin Freundlich, Jamie Caster, and Sarah Freundlich; and siblings, Harlan Truax and Marian McLaughlin.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Truax, and sister, Christine Maxwell.

Visitation will be held 2pm until the funeral service at 4pm, Friday, February 8 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St (Lake Cook Road), Barrington.  Interment will be private.
