Kelley Bowen Conn, 67, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family members at 11:19 Wednesday evening on January 28th 2015.
Kelley was a great man to say the least. He enjoyed listening and playing music of all kinds. In his youth, he was in a band and continued to play the bass guitar throughout his life. He was an avid player and fan of sports such as golf, baseball, football, and competitive high diving back in his younger years. He enjoyed horse racing, dog racing, poker, scratch-off tickets, and all other gambling... In moderation of course.
He also loved to travel and his favorite places included: Florida, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Wisconsin, and Michigan. He always talked about how he wanted to visit Alaska and Australia. I'm sure he can see all the places he wanted to visit now that is a free spirit again.
More than his hobbies or traveling, Kelley's greatest passion was his family (and his pets). He was blessed when he met his soul mate and wife Linda Jean (Klugger) Conn. After two years of maried life adventures, she knew it was time to help him commit to his destiny. Kelley treasured Linda more than anything. Their partnership was truly the definition of "TRUE LOVE."
A few years after marrying his wonderful wife, Kelley and Linda gave birth to their first son; Clayton Pierce Conn. Clay was named after his favorite White Sox pitcher Billy Pierce. Clayton shared Kelley’s talent and love of sports and competitiveness. They always have shared a special bond in being similar in so many ways. Clay was lucky enough to meet Kelley's loved Daughter in-law Rebecca Conn. They recently gave Kelley two of his most prized possessions; Griffin Bennett Conn and his little sis Brinley Harper Conn. I know he felt very proud of them even at their young age.
Two years later; Andrew Blake Conn was born. Andrew was a handful to raise, however, Kelley and Linda always supported him in whatever his desires were which was a comfort for him that can't be repaid. Andrew always thought he was very different from Kelley growing up, but now he sees that they are incredibly similar. Andrew is thankful and so proud of Kelley for being such an amazing father to him. They share the same soul in his mind.
Another two years passed and his first daughter Casey Lee Conn (toots) was born. She shares his deep compassion, empathy, and love of family. Luckily she met a great man to take care of her Greg Clementz, who I know Kelley was grateful for and sees as a true son. Kelley fought an incredible battle to make sure he got to meet his fourth grandchild Baylee Briar Clementz who is sure to grow to be a wonderful person with Casey and Greg as parents.
Three more years passed and little Kandace Marie Conn was born. She shares his spirit and strength. She can always seem to win an argument and make you feel ok with it at the same time. She's grown into a wonderful, strong, OUTSPOKEN woman because of his unbreaking will. His perfectly balanced family was complete... Well not quite. Then Kandace had little Cameron John Conn-Kafka, the oldest grandchild. Cameron was his shining light and the chance to be a father once again. He loved to take Cameron out for pancakes, shopping, fishing, and of course the trips to "Beast Hill". Cameron was very dear to Kelley and he cherished their time together.
I could go on and on about how amazing Kelley was all day, but everyone who reads this already knows the wonderful person that he was.
He will be missed everyday, and will be in our hearts forever.
We all love you very much Kelley... We are so proud of you, and you will never be forgotten.
