Davenport, Barrington

Kenneth John Jeschke (Kenny), age 81, passed away peacefully at Lutheran Home of Arlington Heights due to complications of Alzheimer’s Disease. Ken was born on July 15th, 1938 to Erwin and Florence Jeschke of Chicago Illinois.

Ken graduated from Luther North High School and then was hired by Illinois Bell Telephone, later AT+T as a lineman and then Systems Technician. Upon retirement he created his own business KJJ Communications. On September 3rd,1960 Ken married Bette Jane Rastall at St. Gregory’s Church in Chicago. Ken and Bette raised two wonderful children, Jill (Richard) Lindberg and David (Kelly) Jeschke in Des Plaines and Hawthorn Woods Illinois.  He was a loving brother to Donald (Nancy) Jeschke of Scarborough, Maine, Charles (Joan) Jeschke of Downers Grove, Illinois and Arlene Jeschke of Downers Grove, Illinois. Loving Grandfather to Zach (Michelle) Walters and Great Grandfather to Faye Walters. Loving uncle to nieces and nephews, Tom (Julie) Jeschke, Judy (Frank) Lin, Mark (Rachel) Jeschke and Michael (Suzanne) Jeschke and their children.

Ken’s favorite way to pass his free time was to spend time with his family during countless parties and picnics. His other favorite past times were gardening, fishing, boating, planning yearly vacations, and canoe and pontoon boating trips throughout the USA and beyond. Ken’s favorite place by far was his retirement home in Bailey’s Harbor Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. He and his wife and family treasured the days up on Ridges Road, fishing, feeding the birds, planting amazing gardens and watching the sunsets over the bay. Ken was always willing to lend a hand and jump in to rescue and help those in need. He will always be remembered for his kind caring heart not only to his family but friends and neighbors too.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org.

A memorial service to celebrate Ken’s life will be held at a later date.
