Kenneth R. Miller, 68, of Crystal Lake, passed away Friday, September 9, 2016. He was born in DeKalb, IL on November 6, 1947 to Carroll and Evelyn (nee Jacobs) Miller.
Ken studied American history and political science in college. He met his wife Pamela (nee McLean), whom he married on August 1, 1970.
Ken worked for the US Postal Service as a letter carrier from 1971 until his retirement in 2007. He was the past president of N.A.L.C. Branch 4268, Palatine, IL for 31 years, at which time he was appointed Regional Administrative Assistant for N.A.L.C. Region 3. He remained RAA for 13 years until his retirement in Nov. 2015.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela, of 46 years; his mother, Evelyn; his sister, Carolyn (Jerry) Garriott of Salem, Oregon and his daughter Dominique of Crystal Lake.
Ken was a lifelong Cubs fan and season ticket holder. He completed 21 Chicago Marathons and continued to run until illness prevented him from running.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 15th, from 10 am until the time of a funeral service at 1 pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake. Burial will follow at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a no-kill animal shelter of your choice.
