Ken Bakutis, of Grayslake, passed away May 31, 2023 at the age of 73.
He was born September 6, 1949 in Chicago, the son of the late Bruno Thomas and Ann Agnes (Janulis) Bakutis. After Ken’s father passed at a young age, he was raised by his mother and Roy Neumann around the Oak Lawn area.
Ken was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in Vietnam on the USS Enterprise Aircraft Carrier. He learned the craft of being a machinist from his father and later worked as a machinist on aeronautics.
Ken always enjoyed his time fishing and spending vacation time with family in the North Woods.
Ken is survived by his wife, Susan Bakutis; son, Michael Bakutis of Wauconda; his brother, Donald Bakutis; his sisters, Lynda Amore and Geri Schumacher; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Lemke.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 7:30 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave, (Rt. 176) Crystal Lake. Visitation will continue the following day from 10:30 a.m. until the time of prayers at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
