Kevin G. Holmen

October 31, 1990 — July 17, 2019

Davenport, Barrington

Kevin G. Holmen’s family received the devastating news of his death on July 17, 2019; he had made the decision of when his life would end. His family’s hearts are broken yet rest in the knowledge that Kevin was beloved by God and is now free and with Him for eternity.

Kevin was born October 31, 1990 in Arlington Heights, the son of Scott and Debbie Holmen, and grew up with his brothers Steven and Brian in Hoffman Estates. Kevin was a one-of-a kind thinker and scholar, with a deep appreciation for the written word. As a child, Kevin learned the joy of creating through the art of theater as an active member and leader in the Christian Youth Theater (CYT) community. At CYT he met the ones who would be his dearest friends, including his wife, Kaitlyn, and all the Kobler siblings. He was a presence that could not be missed in any room, an astute observer and listener with a quick laugh that we all miss. Kevin experienced God’s call on his heart, receiving a master’s degree in Divinity from Trinity International University, and ministered to others through his professional work, his daily life, and now in his death.

Kevin’s gathering of remembrance will be on Sunday, August 4th from 2-4 pm, with service starting at 2:30pm at The Orchard, 1301 S. Grove Avenue, Barrington, IL 60010.

His family invites you to honor Kevin through acts of service to another in need, or through donations to Christian Youth Theater at: https://www.cytchicago.org/support/ using the “In Honor of Kevin Holmen” link.
