Kirk William Alexander McComb

Kirk William Alexander McComb, 98, passed away at The Fountains of Crystal Lake on March 19, 2018. He was born March 2, 1920 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to William and Ida (nee Walker) McComb.

Kirk married Winona Elizabeth Hicks in 1942. He spent three years in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a captain. He eventually moved to Illinois in 1954 and settled in the Wonder Lake area. He spent many years working for the Morton Salt Co. as their ad manager. He later had his own ad agency in Cary. Kirk married Barbara Shields in 1987. They lived together for many years in Cary and wintered in Ft. Myers, FL. Kirk loved sports, especially curling, golf and tennis. He also enjoyed being with family, dancing, playing bridge and other games.

Kirk is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children, Gayle Mansfield, Wendy (Kenny Schlobohm) McComb, Maureen (Gary) Engel, Pamela (Charles Willard) Wincapaw, Connie (Daniel) Jensen, and Steven Wincapaw; his grandchildren, Shawn (Anne) Mansfield, Kim (Skip) Garlick, Ryan Henrikson, Andrew Henrikson, Danna (Kevin) Raske, Jordan (Trace) Trebilco, Brandan Jensen, Annabella Andersen, and Brynleigh Andersen; and his great grandchildren, Dalton, Kattie, Payton, Raegan, and Wyatt.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Betty; his siblings, Ruby, Vivian, and John, his son-in-law, Frank Mansfield; and his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 11am, Saturday, March 31, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 9812 St. Albans St., Hebron, IL 60034.
