Komal C. Singhal, beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 7, 2020. He was a patient, humble, and generous man with deep family values. He had a passion for learning and was a patient teacher and mentor to all family, friends, and members of his community who had the opportunity to interact with him both personally and professional over his 81 years.
Komal is survived by his loving wife, Manorama, of 51 years. He was most proud of his children, Rachna (Bill) Stegall, Sarit (Lisa) Singhal, and Nupur (Kevin) Stafeil, and grandchildren, Nick and Jay Stegall, Reena and Raj Singhal, and Sonia and Tara Stafeil. He is also remembered by all of his relatives as well as close friends who became family when he moved to the U.S.
Komal began his professional career after earning a bachelors degree in mining engineering in India, where he achieved the top academic distinction of being a gold medalist for his state and further completed his masters degree at University of Sheffield in United Kingdom. He began his career in India as a mining engineer and was also an adjunct professor at the India School of Mines. In 1978, he moved to the U.S. to create better opportunities for his family. He reinvented himself as a civil engineer at Globetrotters Engineering Corporation and led multiple large construction consulting projects throughout the midwest until his retirement. His family remembers him as a role model for the courage it took to bring his young family to a new country and start all over as he reinvented his career and inspired us with his incredible work ethic.

The family will welcome friends and relatives to share their profound sense of loss and reminisce about Komal’s life at the Davenport Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich, Illinois on Monday, March 9th at 2pm until the time of the pooja service at 4pm. A memorial gathering will follow the service at the funeral home.
