Lance Kuhns

Lance Elliot Kuhns, 61, of Crystal Lake, and of the McCullum Lake Cancer Cluster, fought his cancer for 24 years until his last breath on March 2, 2016. He peacefully passed on to the afterlife in his home surrounded by his devoted siblings.

He was the eldest of six, of the late Walter Roy Kuhns and Ann Irene Kuhns. He is survived by siblings Scott (Carmen Ortega) Kuhns, Holly (Rob) Furst, Wendy (Jeff Powell) Kuhns, Jill (Dawn Wesner) Kuhns, Todd Kuhns (service dog Shadow), his nephews Joshua and Jacob Furst, Jeremy (Lauren) Kuhns, and Joey Powell; niece, Faith Furst, and great nephews Ted and Zachary.

Lance's thoughtfulness attracted lifelong friends early in his career at Oak Industries. When they closed, he embraced his love for arts and crafts in retail management at Michael's. He simultaneously initiated a property maintenance position at Virginia Street Condos, where he loved being outdoors as he landscaped, and making friends as he repaired neighbors' homes.

Lance inspired us with his courage, encouraged us with his faith, blessed us with his generosity, and gifted us with his hand-crafted artwork. He had a God-given talent in many art mediums, and we will cherish his crafts, and the love he put into them, forever. His experience of God in faith, hope, love, joy, and peace drove his selflessness and we will carry his serenity to accept difficult circumstances without questioning God with us in our spirits. "A man who walks with God always gets to his destination" was hung in a prominent place in his home.

His love will live on in our hearts and memories forever.

Memorial visitation will be held from 4:00-9:00 p.m., with service at 7:00 p.m., on Monday, March 7, 2016, at Davenport Funeral Home.
