Lauren Brown

November 17, 1983 — November 30, 2012

Lauren Brown, 29, of Cary, Illinois died as a result of ovarian cancer on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Rush Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Her parents Glen and Darla were overjoyed the day their beautiful daughter Lauren was born, November 17, 1983. She was also adored by her big brother Eric.

Lauren attended Cary-Grove High School where she was very active with soccer and social activities. After graduating in 2002, she dominated public relations at Arizona State University in Tempe. Lauren returned to Cary after graduating with a bachelors degree in 2007 and began her career working for the Chamber of Commerce in Barrington.

Lauren Brown was employed by the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce as the Director of Marketing and Communications from 2008 to present. During her tenure at the chamber, Lauren successfully co-founded the Women's Biz Net Council, a vibrant council comprised of professional female business leaders from the Barrington region, writer of the Barrington Business News and Barrington Business Report, coordinator of two award winning national publications - The Barrington Magazine and the Barrington Resource Directory - web designer, and ad coordinator.

Her additional skillsets included the creation and execution of an extensive marketing and public relations plan for three signature events held annually by the Chamber, and working closely with the 1000 members of the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce.

Lauren will be best remembered for bright smile and her genuine love for people. She was absolutely loved by all. In support of Lauren's health challenge, the chamber family formed "Lauren's Team" at the Barrington Relay for Life American Cancer event held in June 2011, successfully raising dollars to find a cure.

In remembrance of such a fine young lady who dedicated her work life to partnering with the business community in fostering a dynamic business environment for all to enjoy in ten communities in the northwest suburbs, the chamber will dedicate and name a high school scholarship annually, The Lauren Brown Scholarship, to a worthy student entering a certified Public Relations and/or Marketing program beginning in fall of 2013.

To her many friends and family, Lauren will always be remembered for her sweet disposition and uplifting personality. Her spirited quick sense of humor and smile kept her and those around her laughing and will never be forgotten.

Lauren is survived by her parents, Glen & Darla of Cary; her brother Eric of Phoenix, AZ; grandmothers; and extended family.

Lauren was preceded in death by her grandfathers and her uncle, Carl.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7pm Thursday, Dec. 6 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave (IL Rt. 176), Crystal Lake with visitation from 3pm until 9pm.
