LaVerne R. Coughlin

LaVerne R. Coughlin, of Lakewood, formerly of Barrington, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at her home.

She was born February 3, 1920 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Axel and Leona (nee Freeman) Carlson.

LaVerne met her husband, Kenneth, in high school. They were married for 61 years until his passing in 2005. She was a volunteer for Good Shepherd Hospital, enjoyed traveling with her husband, playing golf, and watching her grandson play baseball. Most of all, LaVerne loved her time spent with family.

LaVerne is survived by her daughter, Regina Schmalz; grandson, Darin (Amy) Schmalz; and her great-grandchildren, Spencer, Cameron, and Hillary Claire.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Coughlin; and son-in-law, Blaine Schmalz.

Services for LaVerne will be held privately.
