Lawrence "Larry" Carmody

Lawrence P. Carmody, a resident of Hawthorn Woods for 34 years, passed away peacefully February 21, 2024.  He was born September 8, 1947 in Chicago to Burr and Keitha Carmody.

A Purdue engineering graduate who spent his career as a manufacturers’ rep agent in the electrical utility industry, in retirement Larry turned his energy to spending time with his beloved wife and family, perfecting his grilling technique, and indulging his incurable yardwork obsession. Friend to ground squirrels, bane of the Lake County property tax assessor, avid North Woods fisherman, and life-long golfer, Larry loved to tell of his adventures and to bask in the glory of having once hit a hole-in-one.

Larry is survived by his children, Stephen, Daniel, and Erin Carmody; and grandchildren, Margaret and Ashlynn.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Patricia (2019); brothers, Dennis and Thomas Carmody; and his parents.

Visitation will be 4pm until the funeral service at 7:30pm Saturday March 2 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 941 S. Old Rand Road, Lake Zurich.  Interment will be private.
