Leander Hilgeman, 92, of Crystal Lake, died August 25, 2015 in Woodstock. He was born on July 3, 1923 to William and Louise (nee Meyer) Hilgeman in Holland, Indiana.
Lee was a veteran serving in the Army Air Corp in WWII. He was an avid Rotarian and was proud to be a charter member in the Crystal Lake Club. His faith in Jesus Christ was an important part of his life and he was very active in his church, Evangelical Free Church of Crystal Lake. Lee leaves behind a legacy beyond measure.
Lee is survived by his wife, Helen; loving children, James (Carolyn) Hilgeman, and Thomas (Mary) Hilgeman; grandchildren, Amy (Rob) Fowler, Kelly (Rick) Williams, Erin Hilgeman, Denise (Jason) Bader, Alison (Jimmy) Park, Brad (Beci) Hilgeman, Bethny Hilgeman, and Chad Hilgeman, fifteen great-grandchildren; and four great- great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Waundine, in 1964, and his wife, Edna, in 2000; brother, Louis Hilgeman; sister, Selma and their parents.
Friends and family are invited to come celebrate Lee’s life with a time of visitation on Friday, August 28, from 10 am until the time of funeral service at 12 noon at the Evangelical Free Church of Crystal Lake, 575 E. Crystal Lake Ave., Crystal Lake. Burial will be at Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Lee’s name may be made to the church.
