Lester Handelsman

Lester Handelsman, 92, of Crystal Lake, passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2012 at Centegra Hospital in McHenry.

Lester was born in New York on Dec 22, 1919. He was married to Lillian Handelsman for 57 years. She preceded him in death in 2002.

Lester was a US Army Veteran and had an entrepreneurial spirit that made him a very successful businessman. Most of all, he was a great family man who loved his family.

Survivors include a daughter, Hinda Richards (Fred) of Flowery Branch, GA; sons Marshall Handelsman (Donna) of McHenry , IL , Henry Handelsman of Woodstock , IL and Ira Handelsman(Annette) of Crystal Lake , IL ; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A Memorial will be held Feb. 26, 2012 at 12:30pm at McHenry County Jewish Congregation, 8617 Ridgefield Road, Crystal Lake. For those wishing to send an expression of condolence, a Memorial has been set up in Lester Handelsman's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 1111 South Alpine Road, Suite 307, Rockford, IL 61108.
