Lidia Johnson

Lidia Marie Johnson, age 96 of St. Michael, passed away at The Legacy of St. Michael on June 5, 2016. Funeral service on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Barrington, IL at 3 pm with visitation one hour prior to service at the church. Visitation on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at The Peterson Chapel, Buffalo, MN from 4-8 pm. Interment Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington, IL.


Lidia was born on November 2, 1919 in Palatine, IL to Charles and Lidia (Decker) Shiley. Lidia's first job was as a cashier at National Tea. It was there that she met Bob Johnson who had come in to buy a bag of dog food. She knew that any man who loved dogs was a good catch. They were united in marriage on June 4, 1943.


Preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, Robert A. Johnson, brothers and sisters, Lillian, Florence Harold, Charles, Clifford and Edwin.


She is survived by her son, John (Gloria) Johnson of Texas; daughter, Joan Besse of Minnesota; grandchildren, Jennifer Besse, Mike (Tracy) Besse, Amie (Alan) Whitfield and Dana Johnson; great-grandchildren, Tyler Besse, Travis Wolden, Kayla, Tanner and Connor Besse, Mitchell, Michael and Miller Whitfield; sister-in-law Helen Shiley and many other friends and relatives. A special thanks to the wonderful staffs at The legacy of St. Michael, St. Benedicts Senior Community of Monticello and St. Croix Hospice.
