Linda Kristine (Mossman) Corteen

Linda Kristine Corteen, 71, of Huntley passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 19, 2021.

Linda was born in Chicago on December 30, 1949, to Richard and Lorraine (nee Berg) Mossman. On August 21, 1971, she married Michael Corteen and dedicated her life to their three children and later seven grandchildren. Linda was also deeply committed to elementary education, starting as a Teacher Aide at West Elementary and working her way up to the Principal of Husmann Elementary. Throughout her 32-year career with District 47, Linda inspired and supported countless students, families, and staff. She also loved gardening, crafting, and hosting family gatherings.

Linda is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Michael Corteen; loving children, Christopher Corteen, Jonathan (Gretchen) Corteen, and Kimberly Dubin; cherished grandchildren, Owen, Emily, Brady, Luke, and Grace Corteen, J.R. and Nate Dubin. She is further survived by sisters, Nancy (Michael) Creswell and Susan (Dave) Ferenc; and nephews, Jeffrey (Olivia) Creswell and David Ferenc. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Lorraine Mossman.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Linda’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
