Linda Sue (Labanics) Robert

Linda Sue Asmussen Robert, 71, of Crystal Lake passed away peacefully November 4, 2018 at Autumn Leaves Memory Care in Crystal Lake.  She was born in Washington D.C. on August 17, 1947 to Michael and Dagny Labanics.

Linda attended Robert E. Lee High School in Springfield, VA, Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, VA and graduated in 1969 from University of Missouri in Columbia, MO with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Linda spent many years breeding cats and subsequently volunteered at Anderson Animal shelter in Elgin, IL and On Angel’s Wings Pet Rescue & Resale Store in Crystal Lake, IL.  She was a member of the Shore Club – a ballroom dancing club which she and Cameron enjoyed for many years.  As a couple they both enjoyed traveling and visited Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean in their years together.

Linda retired from Centegra Hospital after over twenty years as a social worker.  She also worked at Little City, The Lambs, and Elgin State Hospital throughout her career. Linda was an active member at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church serving in various capacities such as coffee hour, bread ministry, and food pantry.   Linda brought joy to those she met with her kind compassionate nature and beautiful smile and will be missed by many.

Linda is survived by her husband, Cameron Robert; her stepsons Cameron Robert II (Terry) of NY, Christopher Asmussen of AZ; former in-laws, John and Rita Asmussen of WI; niece, Cyra Kobelinski of WI; and Linda’s beloved Chiweenie dog, Ivy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Gary Asmussen.

A memorial service will be held November 10, 2018 at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 210 S McHenry Ave, Crystal Lake, IL 60014

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Linda’s name may be made to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Anderson Animal Shelter or JourneyCare Foundation Hospice.   See links below.
