Lois Korda

Lois Mae Korda, age 91, of Barrington passed away peacefully on Monday, July 13,
2015. Born May 15, 1924 in Chicago, IL. Lois was the youngest and only daughter of Dorothy & Samuel Hough.

Lois attended and graduated from Notre Dame School for Girls in Chicago 1942.
During Lois’s sophomore year of high school she met Bob Korda at a Tea Dance – they fell head over heels and were engaged on Christmas Eve 1943. Lois & Bob were married on May 27, 1944 at the Army base in Lubbock, Texas where Bob trained to become a pilot in the Air Force; eventually completing 23 combat missions in World War II.

Lois was a beloved member of the Garlands of Barrington Prairie View Community. She enjoyed her weekly 5 miles on the NuStep machine, occasional swims in the pool, bingo, knitting and arts & crafts classes. Lois will be remembered for her sweet easy going demeanor and her ability to always give everyone the benefit of the doubt and find the positive in every one she met.

Lois is survived by her children, Bruce (Patricia) Korda, Debbie (Jim) Cashmore, Kevin (Sandy) Korda & Bryan (Kathy) Korda; her grandchildren, Denise (John) Pircher, Pamela Korda, Jason Cashmore, Ellen (Jeff) Vandaveer, Ashley (Jeremy) Kinder, Niki Korda, Derek Korda, & Jeff Korda; great grand children, Jack Pircher, Lauren Pircher, Edan Cashmore, Lars Cashmore, Julia Vandaveer,Jake Vandaveer, Jonathon Vandaveer & Sweet baby Edwin Kinder.

In addition to her hunky husband, Bob, she was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Bill & Earl.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home 149 W Main St., Barrington, IL. A short prayer service will be said at the funeral home at 7pm.
