Lois Anne Novelli passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018 in the company of family at Good Shepherd Hospital, Barrington, IL.
Lois was born April 6, 1935, in Crystal Lake, IL. She was preceded in death by parents, Kenneth and Dorothy Sweetland, and stepmother Lilas, all of Woodstock.
She was a baker when she was young, working in her father’s bakery in Crystal Lake, IL. She was the Chicago Master Bakers Wedding Cake Queen in 1953. She helped found the Grove Beautification Society that provided floral enhancements to the downtown of Fox River Grove for many years. When her twin sons, Mark and Michael, were born she became active in the Illinois Chapter of the Mothers of Twins Clubs. A devoted homemaker, mother, neighbor, friend to many, and dearly loved wife, Lois will be remembered as an exceedingly kind and generous person, full of spirit and humor, and always up for a family gathering or lively discussion.
She is survived by her loving husband of sixty years, Tony Novelli Jr.; her sisters, Mary of Woodstock, IL and Selma of Houston, TX; step-sister Karen of Woodstock, IL; and five sons, Tony III of Ukiah, CA, Joseph of Chicago, Nick, Michael and Mark of Elgin, IL.
Lois’ remains will be interred at Windridge Memorial Gardens in Cary, IL in the spring of 2018.
