The funeral service for Loren Bartling,92, long- time resident of Barrington, will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 13 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1190 North Hicks Rd. Palatine, where he will lie in state starting at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. The Reverend Scott Christenson will officiate. Burial will be private at Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington.
Loren was born in December 17, 1919 in Portland IN and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family July 9, 2012. He graduated from Purdue University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and served in the US Navy in WWII as an engineering officer. After leaving the service he settled in the Detroit area working as an engineer for Kaiser-Frazer and Ford Motor Company. Loren then moved to Barrington where he started his own company, Flo-Tech, Inc. where he designed and manufactured hydraulic test equipment which became the industry standard.
Survivors include his wife, Antonia (nee Lambros); children, Christine ( Arthur) Lane, Joan (Robert) Edwards and Robert (Jill) Bartling; stepson, George (Dorothy) Najarian; sister, Joyce Nesbitt; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Ada (Hinkle) Bartling.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
