Lorraine Beatrice Engelen

Lorraine Beatrice (Halsne) Engelen went home to her Lord & Savior on Thursday, February 10, 2022 in Crystal Lake, IL.

She was born in Chicago, IL to Norwegian immigrants, Osmund and Hanna (Clausen) Halsne. She attended Kelvyn Park High School in Chicago. She married Eugene Engelen on December 6, 1949 at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Chicago. She worked as a bookkeeper until she became a homemaker.

Lorraine is survived by her children, Diane Ford, Janet (Jeff Berg) Engelen, Mark and Laura Engelen and Karen Looye; her grandchildren, Brian (Lori) Ford, Bradley (Lynn) Ford, Michael (Angela) Ford, Melissa (Jon) Monge, Scott (Lexi Clements) Looye, Kelly (Andrew Jacobson), and Kevin Looye; her great-grandchildren, Caleb, Kennedy and Kathryn Monge, Camryn, Logan, Elliot, Nolan, Huck and Theo Ford; her brother, Howard Halsne; sister-in-law, Clementine (Penny) Engelen; and nieces, Susan Zagurski, Crystol Kwasinski, Alana Baarda and Marla Greenspan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Engelen; sons-in-law, Robert “Bob” Ford, and Eric Looye; sister, Dolores Capek; and sister-in-law, Karen Halsne.

A chapel service will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Ridgewood Memorial Park, 9900 N Milwaukee Ave, Des Plaines, IL 60016. Burial will follow.
