Born November 8, 1922 in Schaumburg, Lorraine passed away May 11, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Lorraine married Alfred Pahlke on May 5, 1946 after his return from serving with the US Navy in WWII. Together they started Barrington Transportation Company in 1947, and the business grew to have more than 150 vehicles. For over 30 years, after Alfred’s retirement, Lorraine ran the family business. She was past president of the Illinois School Transportation Association, and she and Alfred were both charter members of the National School Transportation Association. Lorraine and Alfred received several awards from both organizations. She was extremely proud of the service she and her family provided for the Barrington area for over 65 years. Recently she was a proud recipient of the Coach’s Hall of Fame Award at Barrington High School.
Lorraine was also an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, serving on various boards and committees. Her faith, her family, and the service her family business provided to the community were most important to Lorraine.
