Lowell Vander Mey
February 27, 1937 — May 15, 2016
Lowell Lee Vander Mey born Feb. 27, 1937 passed into his eternal home May 15, 2016. Preceded in death by parents John and Jennie Vander Mey and grandson Michael Stange.
Lowell was the beloved husband for almost 60 years to Carol (McElheney) Vander Mey (aka Ace). He was loving father to Russell, Karen (Jeff), Jill (Ken) and Bryan (Denise). Papa to Gregory (Tracy), Jonathan (Nicki), Matthew, Sarah, Andrew (Mabia), Bethany (Andrew), Lewis, Austin, Gisele, and Mandy Ann. Great grandfather to Allison, Carter, Nolan, and Braden.
Lowell proudly served in the Illinois National Guard. He modeled deep faith and commitment to his family. Lowell worked as a mechanic for the Chicago Fire Department for 40 years.
There will be a celebration of life on Wednesday, May 18th at the Evangelical Free Church of Crystal Lake beginning at 2:00pm with a service at 5:00pm.
