Luther C. McKinney, 82, of Wonder Lake, Illinois passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 in Barrington.
Born June 29, 1931 in Dallas Center, Iowa, he was the son of the late Stonewall and Avis (Deitrich) McKinney. He was united in marriage in 1950 to Gloria Edson in Rockford.
Mr. McKinney proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. He received his Doctorate degree in Law from the University of Illinois and served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Quaker Oats for many years.
He was of the Lutheran faith and enjoyed farming, shooting, and artillery.
Mr. McKinney is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria; his loving children, Beth and her husband Mark of Woodstock, Karyn and her husband Jeff of Bellingham, WA, and Scott of Hebron; and cherished granddaughter, Laura of Chicago.
The visitation will be from 9am until 10:30 am with the memorial service following the visitation, Saturday, August 24 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (IL Rte. 176), Crystal Lake.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Luther’s name to Lakeview Specialty Hospital and Rehab, 1701 Sharp Rd, Waterford WI 53185, 262-534-7297.
